Virginia's Royal Welcome ~The Event at Capitol Square

Governor Timothy M. Kaine has announced Virginia’s Royal Welcome at
Capitol Square, a free, public event on May 3 that will feature
great views of Her Majesty’s visit to the Capitol and
live musical performances by Virginia artists.
Virginia's Royal Welcome will be a tribute to the state's musical heritage
with authentic bluegrass, gospel, jazz and blues music. Legendary musician
Dr. Ralph Stanley as well as Jane Powell, Robbin Thompson and the Richmond
Boys Choir, No Speed Limit and others are scheduled to perform. It will be
a show for all ages and offer something for everyone. Click

Virginia’s Royal Welcome is free and open to the public. Tickets are not
needed for the event. Capitol grounds will open at 11:00 a.m. with musical
performances from 1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. The public entrance and security
screening point will be on Ninth Street. It is recommended that anyone
hoping to see The Queen’s walkabout should arrive by 2:00 p.m.
People may bring blankets, picnic lunches, cameras and binoculars to the

To help make Virginia’s Royal Welcome on Capitol Square even more
accessible to the public, GRTC has announced a free,
public shuttle
service between the downtown Richmond area and two Park-N-Ride
facilities. The shuttle will run from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.,
with pick up locations at the University of Richmond Stadium and Cloverleaf Mall.
